Abandoned Sandbox Cloud Gardens -Born from MMO game prototype that has been discontinued [Developer interview]

An interview with the developer of the new indie game I'm worried about this project. This time, we will deliver a mini-in-tavy to the Developer to the Developer, officially released on September 2 for NOIO development, PC / Mac / XSX / Xbox ONE.

This work is a sandbox game that produces harmony with artifacts such as ruined ruins. A gardening simulator, a puzzle game element with a gardening simulator, a puzzle game element, which has a free sandbox mode and multiple chapters, a gardening simulator, a landscape of a district. It is also true for Japanese.

Cloud Gardens is delivered for 1,840 yen.

  • First of all, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?

Thomas Van Den Berg (the following Thomas) is the Thomas Van Den Berg, which operates a small studio called Noio. He likes various genres of games, but I particularly love RTS and simulation games. He was crazy about RTS Z when he was a child (he was addicted to Command & Conquer: Red Alert ).

Also, as well as many other gamers, Deus EX feels nostalgic. At the beginning of that work, graphics like live-action doubted my eyes. However, in the game I make myself, I cherish artistic and feeler than gameplay and story.

-Why did you start developing this work?

Thomas This work is like a prototype spin-off that I made before and I was called Garbage Country . This prototype was an MMO game, and the player was to make a building using a salvaged one or foster plants. This development has made a decline, but the plant simulation part was very good, so I thought that I could take advantage of this. And that was this work.

  • Please tell me the characteristics of this work.

Thomas This work is a non-violent game characterized by atmosphere and artability. The main character of this work is a plant. I wanted to put a plant in the center of the game play, rather than just a plant.

  • What kind of person do this work do you want to play?

Thomas This work seems to be a wide range of people. Many players think that you can enjoy the feel of this work, and you will like to like people who like to make something especially. But if you are looking for a high-time action game, I think it would be better to play another game.

  • Is there a work affected by this work?

Thomas One of the things that mainly affected by this work is a picture of the ruins. A place where plants are overgrown for decades and for decades. I thought this atmosphere could not be reproduced in this work.

-Did you have an impact on development by new coronavirus?

Thomas I work mainly from home. It was boring with the same day repetition, but productivity was high. When development is also on the end, it became a sense that he has pushed out of the tunnel, and in an environment where it is particularly divided from the surrounding world, we were able to focus more than usual. Such feeling, new corona would say that it had a good influence in the development of this work. However, if there were more opportunities to talk about this work, it might have been able to find the problems of this work faster.

  • Is it okay to deliver and revenerate this work?

Thomas Yes, of course.

  • Lastly, please give a message to the Japanese reader.

Thank you for supporting this work since the early access! Some of the best masterpieces in this work are by Japanese players. Thanks to the motivation that you have to provide more powerful tools to the players.

--thank you very much.
