Derbysieg Nürnberg-Fürth 0:1

"We offered him a long-term contract," he said to the TV channel "Sky" before the game against Bayer Leverkusen. "Maybe the security we have pointed out to him, proof how much we want to continue this way." The impression that the coach wants to say goodbye, he "not at all".

Leitl's current contract runs until 2023 and, according to Azzouzi, has an exit clause. So far, the 44-year-old has not yet commented on his plans. The Bayer Leverkusens director stressed, he needed in Fürth people, "who want to work here 100 percent and want to be there and want to give 100 percent everything otherwise we have no chance."

The Fürther are facing relegation after one year of Bundesliga. Despite the difficult season, those responsible for the club recorded at Leitl, who was only able to stabilize the team after only one point from the first 14 games. "Stefan knows what he has to us. He knows how we were in difficult phases to him," said Azzouzi. It is not everyday in paid football. "We went on our way because we are convinced of that."
