Meppen's hope of the great season
It was a changeable season that the SVM played in the 3rd division. At the end of the first half of the season, the team of coach Rico Schmitt ranked at the 5th place in the table with 30 points (the canceled Türkgücü game took out). The Emsländer in the back series could not build on that, only 17 points were recorded by the SVM, six of them in the last two season games. "A conciliatory end," said Schmitt about the final 4: 3 at Viktoria Berlin. "It is a great degree for us."
The end of the point game season - a highlight is still ahead of the Meppeners. The final in the Lower Saxony State Cup against the North Regional League BSV SW Rehden on Wednesday evening (7 p.m.). The duel is not held on the final day of amateurs (Saturday, May 21). Because the Lower Saxony Association can award two tickets for the DFB Cup, the final rises during the week. For Meppen and Rehden, it is about moving into the main round, which would be connected with further income and at least one attractive game against a higher -class opponent. A victory in the BSV stadium would therefore be of great economic and sporting importance. "We knock everything out so that we can win there," promises Meppen's offensive player Christoph Hemlein. "Then I think we played a great season."
Rehden has "Nullkommanull Druck" at the season highlight
Of course, this also applies to the opponent from Rehden. The fourth division from the small 2200-inhabitant town northeast of Osnabrück is still in the relegation battle in the two-part regional league north. "The anticipation is huge. Before that there was still everyday league life, now we have the game we have worked out," says head coach Kristian Arambasic. "We have zero -kommanull pressure. We are blatant outsiders." He promises: "We have a lot going on."
We want to create the sensation, we are in the final.
Kristian Arambasic
The 44-year-old took a close look at the opponent and of course Luka Tankulic, whom he once wanted to bring to VfB Oldenburg, as he revealed, as a particularly dangerous player: "I am a big fan of him as he plays football. But we have to take the desire for him. " His own squad, which is completely available to him, is "hot like fried fat" for the game. Above all, Kamer Krasniqi, who is one of the top goal hunters in the regional league with 15 goals in 27 games. "Everyone has Megax at the game because the pressure is just gone and we play in front of a backdrop that is not common." More than 900 fans are expected on Wednesday.
They should be rewarded for their coming. "We want to create the sensation, we are in the final," says Arambasic. And he has to know how to do it. So far, the Bremen native has been in the state cup final. Both with the SG Aumund Vegesack (2013) and FC Oberneuland (2019 and 2020), he made the leap into the DFB Cup.
